Holidays - yeah!

We have survived the last week of Term 3 and have enjoyed having a sleep in, of sorts, for the last few days. Today we are packing in preparation for our departure tomorrow for Auckland and Hamilton.

We are planning on leaving the children in Hamilton with Chris' family while Chris and I attend General Assembly in Auckland. We are not commissioners but go-fers; Chris is in charge of the computer and data-projector so he will have a busy time. I think I will be running around handing microphones to people, when needed. Yes, you're right, it does not sound like much of a holiday to me either.

We have also planned our January, including a trip to Wellington for Chris' licensing. This is a little tricky as we don't know exactly where we might be next year but we are stepping out in faith and hope it will all work out in the end.

Cultured performances

We are having a rather quality time at the moment as the children were all involved in the Saturday morning music classes public concert on Sunday, which finished with the 1812 oveture complete with canon! Katarina also featured in the Leith Sunday morning children's celebration.

I have just taken Hannah to the dress rehersal for Zak's school production and Chris will go tomorrow night. The children are performing in a real theatre with lights and curteins and everything; I guess that is one advantage of not having a school hall that you feel you have to use.

The big girls are both tied up in finishing their "Wearable Art" projects. All this is making it difficult to complete assignments and get other work in on time. However, it is the last week of term so we expect to have a few extra things on.

We are looking forward to heading to Auckland next week for General Assembly and visit family around Hamilton.

Busy, busy, busy

Chris is struggling with a sore throat at the moment but activities continue. Mary-Jane was involved in servicve leading at Leith Sunday morning and spoke at the evening service at night. I put out lots of wool and knitting needles whichp proved to be a popular activity, who knew students were also keen on knitting!!! The theme was worship but we were able to use the knitting as a parable in the presentation.
Zachary has a birthday party for a friend this week and the girls are practising for their concert this weekend, part of the 1812 oveture no less.
The children are all well again although the weather has turned cold.
St Martin's church has invited Chris to preach for a call and it looks like we might be able to do that October 29. We are also starting to think about our trip to Auckland and Hamilton. The children will stay with family in Hamilton while Chris and I attend the General Assembly in Auckland

Springing into September

Chris and I enjoyed two balmy days in Christchurch, absolutly glorious spring weather. We have had a quiet chat with a church up there and are waiting now to see if they wish to take the conversation any further. We are feeling quite positive.
Hannah and Janine enjoyed a weekend with their grandparents in Oamaru. Janine is very excited as she went horse riding, including a short canter. Hannah has come back itchiing like anything, we suspect some of the pollen up there does not agree with her.
Zachary opted to stay with friends here in Dunedin,as he had the soccer breakup to go to. He enjoyed his two nights away from home. Katarina also opted to stay with friends with Dunedin.
Chris and I took advantage of the new service from Oamaru which worked fine, although the plane was overloaded comeing back so Air NZ flew our bag to Dunedin and dropped it off there. The plane was almost full and apparently there were fuel issues!
