1 May, 2012

Soccer has started for the year. Hannah enjoyed her first game. They came away with a win, and the team looks really good, passing well, and adapting to the larger field as if they had been practising all last year for it. Which is exactly the case.
Zach's team was a struggle to put together. He is at the age where many of the boys are at Boys High, and there is a lot of pressure to play for the school, not the club. I don't think that is fair really, when it is the clubs that put the work in to prepare and coach the boys to this level. However, this is the crazy system we operate under. The coach is playing Zach midfield, which will take him a week or two to get his head around, as he usually plays defense. They lost this first game, but they were played a Boys High team, i.e. all older and bigger.
Janine went to Dunedin on Monday to visit Otago university, caught up with Katarina and generally is all excited about next year.

More Aprilness

Chris is in Dunedin this week studying.
Zach didn't make the rep football team but his reaction, despite the disappointment - well, I'll just have to work harder. So proud!
Hannah has some great new gear thanks to the new outlet shop in town and Aunty Tracy!
Janine has a flash new and larger Head Librarian badge, which sounds kind of geeky, but actually, the school values her, presented in Assembly along with the other Senior Leaders. We went shopping last week and found her a ball dress, which is super organized!

Holidays

We are holidaying at home, just kind of recovering from Easter. Chris is studying, Zach and Hannah have both had  sleep overs (both directions), Janine is currently out with friends and we have bought her a ball dress and I have read books, gardening, gone to a movie, and now back at work. Which is why I am writing my blog.

Slightly weird

If you google map 76 Murchison St in Timaru, you will see Hannah biking to school.
