Slightly slower

I am typing this slowly because I know you don't read fast.

Actually, I have strained my wrist playing Futsal, nothing serious, but it is taking longer to do everything.

Katarina went to Christchurch on Saturday with some friends to a chemistry tutorial. Janine went to Tekapo ice-skating with another youth group and then to a party. Zach and Hannah went to football prize giving. They are all better now, no more coughing (yay).

Of illness and exams

Everyone but myself have been sick in the last week - coughs and temperatures and general unwellness, but all back on board and off to school again today. Chris had Thursday off and in bed which did not help preparations for the Rugby World Cup (Party Provincial) one little bit, but we managed to finish hall set up, food prep, and advertising with the help of fabulous church folks, and a good night was had by all.

Zach's team won the Aorgangi Book Quizz for the second year running - yay Zach! Hannah missed orchestra for a week and went to the same event, her team came 6th.

Katarina is in the middle of exams and Janine had parent-teacher interviews last week, which was useful to identify some bits to work on for her study program.

Clarinet and flute lessons continue, Hannah and Zach are also working towards piano exams.

Spring like colds and flowers

Three children sick so far this week, but all at school today - sore throats and persistent coughs, poor things. Zach even missed football on Sunday! Hannah and Zach had Monday off, and Katarina came home pale and interesting after school.

I managed to get into the garden - lots of lovely spring flowers and tulips will in in flower by next week.

Janine went to the Timaru Girl's ball on Saturday night - she looked stunning in the Thai silk dress Chris brought in Thailand eight years ago. We also managed to find some 'bling' that matched the dressed beautifully.

Janine went with her friend Martina, and a wider group of girl. Martina also stayed the night, as she lives in Pleasant Point. They all had a lovely time, no one interested in drinking alcohol, and only one of the girls had a a male partner. Janine managed to make the paper twice on Monday morning. The photographer lives next door and dropped off a beautiful enlarged print of her photo, so we have some great reminders of the big night.
